Programme 2017-2018 Season

 

30th September 2017 - Lewis Girls' School - 2.30pm

Raphaela Papadakis ( Soprano) and James Cheung (Piano)

Raphaela (a recipient of a Philip and Dorothy Green Award for Young Artists) and James will provide a varied programme from Roberrt Schumann through Wolf, Granados, Poulenc, and Britten to Kate Whitley (b 1989).

14th October 2017 - Lewis Girls' School - 2.30 pm

Gwent Chamber Orchesra

Something different for our audience, a string group of professional and gifted amateur musicians from South and Mid Wales who will perform items from their wide repertoire.

18th November 2017 - Lewis Street Methodist Church, Ystrad Mynach - 2.30pm

Eleri Darkins (Harp) and Catherine Handley (Flute)

Local musicians, Eleri and Catherine, will perform a varied programme including a piece by our late President, Mervyn Burtch.

20th January 2018 - Lewis Girls’ School - 2.30pm

Stacey Wheeler (Soprano) and David Doidge (Piano)

Stacey will sing from her wide repertoire, including Richard Strauss' Four Last Songs, accompanied by David Doidge whom some of our audience may remember from a previous concert.

17th February 2018 - Siloh Christian Centre - 2.30 pm

Jazz Duo - Sarah Moule (Voice) and Simon Wallace (Piano)

Sarah and Simon specialise in stunning arrangements of songs from the jazz repertoire.

17th March 2018 - Lewis Girls’ School - 2.30 pm

Rosanna Ter-Berg (Flute) and Leo Nicholson (Piano)

Having performed together for over six years in some of the UK's most prestigious concert halls and Music Clubs, Rosanna and Leo will bring their artistry to our Rhymney Valley Club.

21st April 2018 - Siloh Christian Centre - 2.30 pm

Laura Snowden (Guitar)

Laura (another recipient of the Philip and Dorothy Green Award) has performed widely and recently been chosen to play at concerts by both Julian Bream and John Williams.

26th May 2018 - Siloh Christian Centre - 2.30 pm

Iberian Colours

A quintet of players (guitars, violin, cello, percussion, and voices) will trerat us to a different flavour of Spain and the colours and rhythms of Spanish musical art.
